About The Recordings
Yes, I’ve made some recordings, and starting with 1997’s Little Suns, I’ve tried to keep my standards high while telling my tale through the songs I’ve written. There are still songs to write, and tales to tell and I’m not sure what form the records of those songs will take. In the meantime, all of my recorded product is available as either a hard copy CD, or MP3 downloads or both, through CDBaby.com. There you can easily listen to a sample of any song of mine you wish, and either buy the whole CD, or the individual song as an MP3.
My journey to CDBaby.com started with my affiliation with Songs.com, a very early web organization founded by Paul Schatzkin, Tom Kimmell, and Michael Camp. It was an aggregator of songwriters, a union as it were, a strength in numbers idea where each artist had their own site, but all the sites were under the Songs.com umbrella. What set it apart was you had to audition to be accepted into the fold.
I auditioned, was accepted and found myself in some pretty damned good company, such as: Chuck Brodsky, Jack Williams, Dana Cooper, Janis Ian, Buddy Mondlock, and Tom Prasada-Rao to name a few. That in and of itself was career affirming, but it also led to my first visit to a Folk Alliance Conference; a convention type gathering of 3500+ people in the folk music world, at one hotel in Memphis, TN. There is where I saw the best and the brightest of the performing songwriters in this country, and had my batteries recharged right to the brim.
Eventually, as in all good things, Songs.com got bought out by Nashville based entertainment conglomerate Gaylord Entertainment, who pretty much put them out of business. But, before the end, Paul Schatzkin told the membership to check out the new start up called CDBaby.com, created by entrepreneur extraordinaire Derek Sivers. I checked them out and found it to be a very friendly place, run by enthusiastic and intelligent people, dedicated to the promotion of independent music. So I signed up.
You’ll find them to be fast, efficient, and fun to work with. They’ve a sense of humor as they work hard to fulfill your order quickly and accurately. Happy shopping!
